When stitched, this Work of Heart will hang as a loving beacon to guide your loved ones home when they are away...The original colours are based on subtle overdyes, creamy white twisted silks, soft colonial blues, rose and tan shades of silk flosses, tiny sparkling blue beads, elegant vatican gold metallic braid and glowing mother of pearl heart and drop beads for embellishment. At the top is a stylized tall house, a restful haven where birds hover and protective trees curve lovingly over the roofline. Further down you see intricate bands of stitches, dog and cat in the garden, children and adults laughing and playing, with a flowing verse of home and love stitched throughout. Below, a wide band of Hardanger anchors the bottom of the sampler. On the back of this leaflet you will find a photo of the alternate rustic colourway which is included in these directions. Perhaps you will want to insert your family name and the date just above the Hardanger band. Warm shades of rose and gold set the mood of Thea's suggested colourway to give a rustic feel to this Heirloom Homecoming sampler. Zweigart's Clay is a wonderfully warm linen with an undertone of antique rose, just the right touch for your home and a superb contrast with the overdyes and olive greens chosen for this colourway! It was fun choosing the new overdyed threads, the new silks, beads, and metallic colours for this version, and perhaps you have your own combination of home decorator colours which you can substitude for my colourways for your stitched model! I'd love to see this one stitched in mauves and grey greens, for instance... or perhaps change the house to red brick, or soft yellow with colonial blue accents..!! The blue and gold, or rust and gold frames for these models have no mat but use finials, which look elegant and allow your sampler to look beautifully finished..
