IN TWO COLOURWAYS.

This addition to the Heirloom Sampler series is about Christmas, and is a celebration of all things that we hold dear during the Holiday Season. Since I was a child, I was much influenced by the music and the love of family and friends at Christmas. On Christmas eve, my mother lit the many candles sparkling on the tree, on the mantle and on every table in the house. Our decorations were simple ones, evergreen boughs and holly, decorated with some glass ornaments, bows, and tinsel and angel hair. We would sing carols at home around the piano, then nap and go to midnight service. Oh, the most beautiful choirs in the world would sing in the Cathedral at midnight.. a magic hour for a child to listen to the music of love, peace and joy! It is these magic memories that I designed into my Heirloom Christmas sampler.. I hope that it evokes some beautiful memories as you stitch it!

Two Colourways: this sampler was originally conceived as a long sampler in Antique Rose and Teal Green colours. You can see these colours in the photograph on the front of your leaflet and above. However, if you are one of those people who love the Victorian Reds and Greens at Christmas, then please follow the same directions, but substitute the alternate colours where you find them in parentheses. The shorter version and the Needleroll can also be stitched in either of the two colourways. The Victorian Reds and Green shorter version is shown on the back of this leaflet. We're releasing this sampler in January with the hope that this will give you lots of time to stitch this beauty before Christmas 2003! Enjoy!

Heirloom Christmas Needleroll

Thea has taken some of the prettiest parts of the sampler and fashioned them into a needleroll. Remember that this needleroll is not as wide as the sampler above, and there are only 3 chickadees in the Band of Chickadees! This lovely confection looks somewhat like a Christmas Cracker doesn't it??

Victorian greens and reds set the mood of this more rustic example of the Heirloom Christmas sampler. This is also the shorter size, but you can stitch the entire sampler in reds and greens if you wish! Zweigart's latest colour linen is Flax, and is a wonderfully warm homespun linen, just the right touch for your home and a superb contrast with the deep reds and greens! It was fun choosing the new overdyed threads, the new silks, pearls, and bead colours for this version, and perhaps you have your own special Christmas colours which you too can incorporate into your stitched model! I'd love to see this one stitched in all blues and silver, for instance... or perhaps all gold, with green and silver accents..!! The green and gold frame for this model has no mat, which looks elegant, yet beautifully finished..
