The Victoria Sampler - Crystal Waters

Register for Cyberclass #015 Crystal Waters This sampler was inspired by a teaching cruise to Alaska. When I looked over the brochures, I was struck by the beautiful colours of the ocean, islands and mountains that we would be seeing and determined to create a sampler that evoked the scenery. As the sampler developed, I realized that it should become a part of a larger concept, namely that of Water, Air, Fire, and Earth. It is worked on pure white linen and features snowy white Hardanger mountains atop bands of sparkling purple blue waves, foamy white waves, mixed bands of hemstitching, and finally a lovely deep band of bargello at bottom. There is even a pod of whales as seen from a distance! Petite blue crystal beads, white pearls , and aqua blue beads add texture and light to this summer sampler. Stitch it to capture your memories of time spent near or on the beautiful waters of the earth.

However, it is not that easy to stitch with. If you wish, you may replace the TWO strands of Kreinik Blending Filament #BF025, with ONE strand of DMC floss #931 throughout the sampler.
