Details:
“Twelve Days” is a lovely bellpull sampler which celebrates
the song we all know as Twelve Days of Christmas. There are 12 quite distinct motifs
in this design which lends itself to being finished as a long bellpull although
you can also frame it of course! All motifs plus the Hardanger Heart can be made
into various shaped ornaments to decorate a special tree at Christmas. The words
are usually sung as a carol. However, some have suggested that it is a poem of Christian
instruction dating to the 16th century religious wars in England, with hidden references
to the basic teachings of the Faith. Many of the symbols of Christianity were not originally religious, including even the
present date of Christmas, but were appropriated by Christians from the culture
at the time a way to worship and proclame their beliefs secretly. Now, when you
hear what you once thought was a secular song, you will also be reminded of the
true meaning of Christmas! Enjoy stitching this favorite carol.. ! :) - Thea

Sorting The Threads
in the Student Kit.
Remember to sort in daylight near a window, not under artificial light indoors.. as the colours change with the colour of the lightbulbs you use. Each floss in your pack has a different number of strands. The following list helps you differentiate the different colours in your pack.
Needlepoint Inc has 8 strands per length
AVASoie has 7 strands per length
Kreinik Mori has 6 strands per length
Gloriana and Waterlilies have 12 thin strands per length
AVAS/Soie Perlee has one twisted silk thread
- thicker
DMC #12 Perle cotton has one twisted silk thread - thinner
Some colours have been divided into two lengths. Don't get confused if one colour has more than one length of thread. Hope this helps you sort your threads more easily!
