A box top that is chock full of whitework stitches. Originally designed for a Victoria Stitching Holiday, you can use the provided alphabet to adjust ALL of the lettering!
Wendy Causer from Engand, our VS teacher and VS CyberAngel, with the help of Marietta our other CyberAngel, will teach this
Cyberclass!
Details: This sampler can be finished as a needlework box top, but can also be framed and hung on a wall, or turned into a pillow top! There are 14 quite separate whitework areas surrounding the center Cross Stitched area, each of which are easy to learn for an intermediate Hardanger student. The four corners consist of four different needlewoven centers, and each one of them will give you a wonderful introduction to the more challenging types of stitches in Hardanger. The other ‘squares’ contain various forms of simple pulled thread work or drawn thread work, and makes this box top particularly interesting to display when you’ve finished! In the center is a stitcher waiting for a friend to have tea and perhaps stitch in the garden with her. A typical Victorian mansion is shown at right, and a lamp post with hanging baskets and a blooming cherry tree typify a Victorian spring beside the garden walkway. I’ve also designed three stitching accesories, all taken from parts of the box top, and these were beautifully stitched by one of our VS Stitchers, Linda Nelson. Our Lisa has done a wonderful job with the finishing, and has not only inserted this design inside the box top, but also finished the inside of the box with a pink moire, and finished all the stitching accessories as well. All in all, this is such a lovely stitching box, you might find room for a few of your other stitching treasures! Hope you enjoy this class, and that you learn lots while enjoying old and new friends online! :) - Thea

Below you'll see the strands in each of the different silk flosses. Each floss has a different number of strands in each thread length. This helps you differentiate the different colours in your pack.
The Needlepoint Inc has 8 strands per length
The AVASoie has 7 strands per length
The Kreinik Mori has 6 strands per length
The Caron Waterlilies has 12 thin strands per length
FYII opened a pack myself, and noticed that some colours have been divided into two lengths. For instance, one of the browns requires 1.5 yards. Our kitmaker included one 1 yard length and one 0.5 yard lengths, so don't get confused if one colour has more than one length of thread. Hope this helps our students in class!
